Fruits Basket Names

According to Natsuki Takaya, the names of the cursed Sohmas are derived from poetic names which are used to refer to the months in the Japanese lunar calendar. (With the exception of Yuki)

→ Hatsuhara: Hatsuhara (Early Spring)
→ Kisa: Kisaragi (Changing Clothes Month)
→ Kureno: Kurenoharu (Late Spring)
→ Hatori: Konohatorizuki (Month of Leaves)
→ Ayame: Ayamezuki (Month of Irises)
→ Isuzu: Isuzukuretsuki (Month of the Last Cool Spring Days)
→ Hiro: Fumihirogetsuki (Month of Publication)
→ Ritsu: Odakaritsuki (Rice Harvest Month)
→ Momiji: Momijitsuki (Autumn Leaves Month)
→ Shigure: Shigurezuki (Autumn Showers Month)
→ Kagura: Kagurazaki (Month of Shinto Song & Dance)
→ Yuki (is the exception)

It is also important to note that Takaya-sama has noted that she made an error in naming Momiji (He should have been Kureno!) but once she realized her error it was too late to correct!
